Welcome to our

Lower  School

Programme

The purpose of this unit is:

1. Students will develop a deeper understanding of how artifacts symbolise or tell a story about a family's heritage by vewing artifacts and listening to each other's story.

2. To enrich our students' life by stimulating family conversations about the past by interviewing parents/grandparents.

3. To build a sense of community in the classroom by listening to one another and examining each artifact, students will express pride in learning about their culture, traditions and their own families.

Our methods of teaching

Taktse embraces a concept-driven approach to learning and teaching. Concept-based inquiry is a powerful vehicle for learning that promotes meaning and understanding, and challenges students to engage with significant ideas. Rather than focusing on learning and remembering a range of content knowledge, we aim to use the knowledge we choose to cover as a vehicle for developing understanding of concepts. All learning and teaching in the Taktse  is mapped vertically and horizontally in the programme of inquiry and approached through concept-based inquiry—engaging students with significant ideas to promote meaningful learning experiences and conceptual understandings.

TESTIMONIALS

Taktse encourages all students to play on teams and to improve themselves. We believe that participation in sports teaches important skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship and the ability to win or lose with dignity and grace. We have also started an outdoor education program where students and teachers work together in ways that extend the learning beyond the walls of the classroom. Students compete in state educational events on a regular basis. Our small size ensures that all students get an opportunity to participate and to perform in front of a large audience.
